My research is based on soil, with research sites in Japan and Africa.
I am interested in material cycles (carbon and nitrogen) and the soil organisms that drive them.
We also welcome students from outside the university.

We conducted sampling of soil animals and soil at Hokkaido University.

We have created a new website for the Soil Geology Laboratory.
We plan to prioritize updating the lab website.

A new school year has begun.
The Soil Geology Laboratory at Tohoku University now has two faculty members, four doctoral students, eight master's students, and four undergraduate students.

I went to South Africa with Professor Honma from the Crop Science Research Institute and Professor Isekiri from the Dry Land Research Institute at Tottori University.
I was inspired by the several soil health-related projects that have been launched locally.

It was selected for the university's " Support for Soaring Young People" project .
